Amendment of the CSR Procurement Guidelines of the Sumitomo Heavy Industries Group

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President, and CEO: Shinji Shimomura) has amended the CSR Procurement Guidelines of the Sumitomo Heavy Industries Group (hereinafter “the Guidelines”).
The Guidelines consist of six sections: 1. Fair and equitable competition and transactions and thorough attention to compliance, 2. Human rights, labor, and health and safety, 3. Consideration of the environment, 4. Promotion of communication with stakeholders through information disclosure, 5. Social contribution and coexistence/co-prosperity with local communities, and 6. Application throughout the supply chain.

The Group established CSR Procurement Guidelines in 2017, and together with suppliers has engaged in business activities with awareness of the environment, society, corporate ethics, and other important issues. Recently, the Guidelines were extensively reviewed, based on stakeholder needs, international norms, social issues, and other trends, in order to further strengthen responsible procurement activities.
Based on the Guidelines, the Group will engage in business activities while showing greater respect for human rights, and awareness of sustainability issues such as climate change throughout the entire supply chain, and thereby build a robust, sustainable supply chain.
