FTSE Blossom Japan Index

We are selected as a constituent of " FTSE Blossom Japan Index" . (As of June 2024).
The FTSE Blossom Japan Index was created by FTSE Russell, a global index provider, and was designed to measure the performance of companies with outstanding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) handling. As of July, 2024, 350 Japanese companies having high ESG scores have been included.

S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index

We are selected as a constituent of "S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index." (As of June 2024)
This index is the green stock index that was jointly developed by the Japan Exchange Group and S&P Dow Jones Indices and has been adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GRIF) since 2018.
This index covers the stocks constituting TOPIX and adjusts constituent weight based on disclosure of environmental information and the levels of carbon efficiency (carbon emissions per unit of revenue).

SOMPO Sustainability Index

We are selected as a constituent of the "SOMPO Sustainability Index" administered by SOMPO Asset Management Co., Ltd. (As of June 2024)
The index is reviewed annually based on the environmental (E) evaluation in the "Beech Woods Environment Questionnaires" and the social (S) and governance (G) evaluation in the "ESG Management Survey" conducted by SOMPO Risk Management Co., Ltd., and is composed of companies that achieve a standard score or higher.

EcoVadis

We have received a "Bronze Rating" in the 2024 sustainability assessment by EcoVadis, an international evaluation organization. EcoVadis evaluates the sustainability of more than 120,000 companies in 180 countries around the world in four areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis awards a Bronze Rating to companies falling within the top 35% of all the companies it assesses. Because the SHI Group’s score in 2024 corresponded to the top 28%, it earned a Bronze Rating.

CDP

We have earned the evaluations shown in the table below based on our responses to the CDP's questionnaire.

CDP is a UK-based international non-governmental organization that collects and analyzes information on corporate and urban environmental initiatives and discloses the results.This is the world's largest environment-related survey, and an 8-grade rating of A-, A-, B-, B-, C, C-, D, D-is given based on responses from companies every year.Today, in collaboration with more than 680 investors with over USD 130 trillion in assets, companies are motivated to identify their environmental impacts, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve water resources and protect forests.In 2023, more than 23,000 companies, or half of the world's market capitalization, disclosed their data through CDP.

"Platinum Kurumin", a certification mark of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare under the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children

In October 2020, we received "Platinum Kurumin" accreditation from the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Kurumin is the program to accredit companies that commit themselves to providing support for balancing work and childcare, which is administered by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare under the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children.
Out of the companies that have received Kurumin accreditation, those that commit themselves to providing support for balancing work and childcare at a higher level are certified as "Platinum Kurumin."

NIKKEI SDGs Management Survey 2023

The Sumitomo Heavy Industries Group received a 3.5-star rating in the NIKKEI SDGs Management Survey 2023, which rates the actions to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Nikkei SDGs Management Survey is comprised of questions on four categories including "SDGs strategy / economic value," "social value," "environmental value" and "governance", and assesses companies with 17 performance index developed from questionnaires for companies and public data.

The 7th NIKKEI Smart Work Management Survey

We received three stars in the 7th Nikkei Smart Work Management Survey conducted by NIKKEI Inc.
This survey, which has been conducted by Nikkei Inc. since 2017, assesses companies on a scale of five starts, with a definition of initiatives to maximize organizational performance through three elements consisting of "realization of diverse and flexible working style", "systems that will help create new businesses", and "powers to develop markets" as "Smart Work Management," also taking corporate governance and other management bases into consideration. This survey covers nationwide listed companies, as well as leading non-listed companies, and provides a comprehensive assessment by using responses of companies to questionnaires about human recourses utilization capability, innovative power, and market development strengths in combination with other external data.

2024 Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization

On March, 2024, we were recognized as one of the “Excellent Corporations for Health Management 2024 (Large Enterprise Category)” jointly selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi.
The Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations Recognition Program recognizes enterprises that practice exceptional health management based on their own initiatives to address community health issues and health promotion efforts led by NIPPON KENKO KAIGI.

Toyo Keizai CSR Ranking

The Sumitomo Heavy Industries Group ranked 137th of 1,714 companies in 2023 CSR Ranking published by TOYO KEIZAI INC. This ranking identifies reliable companies in terms of adequacy of CSR initiatives (human resources and utilization, environment, corporate governance, social responsibility) and financial performance.
