Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President, and CEO: Shinji Shimomura; hereinafter “SHI”) has established Sumitomo Heavy Industries (India) Private Limited (a subsidiary owned 99% by SHI, and 1% by Sumitomo Heavy Industries (Europe) B.V.; hereinafter “SHI (IN)”) in the Republic of India to serve as its Regional Head Office in India.

■Purpose of the new Indian head office
The Indian market possess technologies, products, and markets that are deeply connected to the SHI Group’s main businesses. The main business unit that has already entered the market is Sumi-Cyclo Drive India Private Limited (Pune) in the Mechatronics segment, which operates sales, assembly, and an after-sales service for gear reducers. In the Industrial Machinery segment, SHI Plastics Machinery (India) Private Ltd. (Gurgaon), which handles plastic injection molding machines, also operates sales and an after-sales service.

SHI (IN) will strive to ensure that the SHI Group can conduct its business activities with enhanced consolidated strength. It will provide organizational support for new business entry, shared services, business management and operations in terms of sales and service bases, accounting, and materials, and for efforts to strengthen business infrastructure and governance. Moreover, SHI (IN) will serve to flesh out Indian initiatives on environmental measures and regulations, and sustainability within the Group.

Conducting the above activities allows us to aim to expand our market from here on and contribute to society as a machine manufacturer offering high-quality products and services.
