Release of the new SE-EV-S series, all electric injection molding machines those realize sustainability in the molding environment

October 02, 2023

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Shinji Shimomura) will start selling the SE-EV-S SERIES of all-electric injection molding machines with enhanced sustainability measures on October 2, 2023, and the SE-EV-S-HD series on November 1, 2023.

■Main features of this series
1) Sustainable Molding
①Reducing power consumption of molding machines
We continue to pursue the energy-saving performance of molding machines. Compared to the first-generation electric machine, the SE-EV-S series has achieved 65%*1 reduction in power consumption. Even if it is replaced from a general electric machine, it will have a sufficient power saving effect.

②Further support for defect reduction and energy saving operations
In order to reduce defects and energy saving, it is essential to be able to mold with low injection pressure and low clamping force. Our machines are equipped with direct drive *2 that achieves precise screw control using servo motor , optimal low clamping force based on high rigidity and low vibration frame, and a system that enables smooth filling even with low injection pressure.
We add the guidance function easily to utilize its system, and other features for energy saving operations.

2) Smart Management
There is a growing need to collect and utilize data to improve labor shortages, reduce the work burden on employees, and improve productivity. We have been providing the production control system i-Connect*3, and our molding machines also come standard with the international communication standard OPC-UA, enabling even more diverse systems to be linked.
We also offer a variety of M2M solutions that link molding machines and peripheral equipment. With solutions that call up the conditions of peripheral machines at the same time when calling up molding processes, and solutions that automate the production end process, we shorten set up time, reduce labor, and prevent work errors.

3) Safety
All model of our injection molding machines comply with the new safety standard JIS B6711:2021 (international safety standard ISO20430 2020). Ensuring safety protects people and equipment and contributes to the sustainability of business activities. Additionally, when procuring or relocating equipment across countries, we reduce the burden of changing specifications and remodeling, supporting the globalization of corporate activities.
