Sumitomo injection molding machines conform to the new safety standard JIS B 6711:2021 (international safety standard ISO20430 2020)

October 02, 2023

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Shinji Shimomura) will duly comply with the new safety standard JIS B 6711:2021 (international safety standard ISO20430 2020) for injection molding machines, starting with the SE-EV-S series released today.

■Points regarding standard compliance
1) Unified to global standards
This enables operations based on unified safety standards, reducing the burden of specification changes and modifications for customers who operate production bases around the world, such as relocation across countries.

2) Improving the reliability of safety gates
Our molding machines have been equipped with a door lock equivalent to ISO20430 as standard since 2011. In addition, the risk of accidents is reduced by the mechanism to prevent the removal of the monitoring sensor. In addition, the status display function in motion mode has been improved to make it easier to grasp the situation, pursuing higher safety.

3) Enhanced protection function of purging cover
The protection of the purging cover has been improved to prevent unintentional resin scattering. It prevents accidents such as burns and increases worker safety.

4) Highly reliable control system using safety PLC
When multiplexing safety circuits in hardware, the probability of failure increases due to the increase in the number of components, but software multiplexing using safety PLCs ensures extremely high quality.

5) Enhanced waterproof and dustproof properties
Since the electrical system of the molding machine may be short-circuited due to water leakage and dust ingress, packing was added to the control cabinet cover and the vent was changed to louvered to improve waterproof and dustproof. It reduces the risk of failure in the unlikely event of a failure.
