Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (“SHI”) has released a new introductory video on YouTube that showcases the history of its research and development, tracing the journey leading to the present-day Innovation and Technology Research Laboratories.

The video was created following the relocation of the main base of the Innovation and Technology Research Laboratories in April 2025 to “Yokosuka Innovation Hub, Cs’-Lab+” at the Yokosuka Works.

Inspired by the concept of “seeds” embedded in the name Cs’-Lab+, the video depicts how diverse technological “seeds” born at the Innovation and Technology Research Laboratories grow, interact, and evolve into a forest composed of our Group’s products. Through this visual narrative, we present one aspect of the development of our organized R&D efforts.

The Innovation and Technology Research Laboratories will continue to work together with our stakeholders to enhance society and those within it with compassion through our ownership and vision, through the creation of innovative technologies. We hope this video offers insight into the ideas and history behind our Group’s R&D activities. We invite you to take a look.
