Received the "Gold" Award in PRIDE Index 2025
November 17, 2025
Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President, and CEO: Shinji Shimomura; hereinafter “SHI”) received the "Gold" Award in the "PRIDE Index 2025," which assesses LGBTQ+ measures in the workplace, on November 14, 2025. This is the highest honor bestowed in that assessment.

The PRIDE Index is Japan’s first assessment* of corporate initiatives for LGBTQ+ and other sexual minorities in the workplace. It was established in 2016 by an organization called “work with Pride” to help realize the creation of workplaces friendly to those sexual minorities with a view beyond the frameworks of companies and organizations.
Believing that diversity is an indispensable foundation for its growth, SHI strives to foster an organizational culture that respects differences in individuality and attributes (age, citizenship, birthplace, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, gender expression, disability, etc.) among its employees and allows them all to maximize their abilities.
In its efforts to address LGBTQ+, SHI is developing its environment and systems and implementing employee education as well as carrying out social contribution activities aimed at promoting social understanding. The recognition of such ongoing initiatives is what culminated in the receipt of this "Gold" Award. Note that this is the third consecutive year and third time overall that SHI has won this award.
Going forward, SHI will continue to do its part for the realization of a sustainable society through such activities.
