June 05, 2026
Since fiscal 2014, Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Toshiro Watanabe; hereinafter referred to as “SHI”) has supported the Tobitate Young Ambassador Program, a public-private project for promoting overseas study (hereinafter referred to as “the program”).
In addition to contributing operating funds, SHI has made continuing efforts in areas such as providing advice to students in networking sessions at send-off receptions for sponsored study abroad students, and dispatching judges for presentation events on study abroad experiences.
In recognition of these efforts, SHI again received the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon in 2025, after receiving it once before in 2018.
The program aims to develop human resources needed by society and human resources who can play an active role on the world stage. It contributes to the development of next-generation human resources by broadening opportunities for study abroad.
SHI is working, both inside and outside the company, to develop the global human resources essential to achieving the company’s mission of “continuing to provide excellent products and services to the world.”
Going forward, SHI will continue to make a social contribution through support for the program and other activities.
