Sumitomo Heavy Industries Group Revises CSR Procurement Guidelines —Integration with the Green Procurement Guidelines to Further Strengthen Responsible Procurement—

April 16, 2026

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Toshiro Watanabe) has revised the Sumitomo Heavy Industries Group CSR Procurement Guidelines (the “Guidelines”).

The Guidelines were established to promote business activities throughout the supply chain with due consideration for the environment, society, and corporate ethics, and the Group has worked together with suppliers on responsible procurement. Since the previous revision, the Group has strengthened its sustainability initiatives, and this revision reflects those efforts in the Guidelines.
The main updates reflected in the revised Guidelines are as follows:
● Joining the United Nations Global Compact
● Revising the Responsible Minerals Sourcing Policy
● Joining the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI)
● Revising the Human Rights Policy
In addition, in conjunction with this revision, the Group has integrated the Sumitomo Heavy Industries Group Green Procurement Guidelines, originally established in 2007, into the Guidelines. As a result, the matters requested of suppliers have been consolidated into a single set of Guidelines, making them clearer and easier to understand.
Taking into account stakeholder expectations, international norms, and changes in social issues, the Group will continue to enhance its responsible procurement activities through ongoing review of the Guidelines. Based on the Guidelines, the Group will promote business activities across the entire supply chain with even greater consideration for sustainability issues, including respect for human rights and climate change, and will continue working to build a resilient and sustainable supply chain.
