January 30, 2026

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Toshiro Watanabe; hereinafter “SHI”) announces that its wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (Head Office: Chesapeake, Virginia, USA; President and CEO: James D. Solomon; hereinafter “SMA”), has acquired the business of Riverside Spline & Gear Inc. (“Riverside”), a Michigan-based gear manufacturer.

[Background of Acquisition]
SMA is strengthening its supply chain and expanding production capacity in the US as part of its long-term growth strategy for power transmission products.
Riverside is a firm based in the US Midwest, and in addition to its strategic location, it has earned a high reputation for its delivery periods, quality, and pricing. Those characteristics matched well with the customer-focused growth strategy of the SHI Group. This business acquisition from Riverside will bring SMA a high level of technical expertise in gear manufacturing, further strengthening SMA’s supply chain for the entire North American region, and its speedy, stable system for supplying products to customers.

Through continuing investment in the human resources, technologies, and equipment of the Riverside brand, SHI will expand production capacity in the USA, and thereby further improve competitiveness in the North American market.
