SHI selected as A List Company by CDP in "Water Security Report 2025"

January 30, 2026

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Toshiro Watanabe; hereinafter referred to as “SHI”) has been selected as an "A List Company," the highest rank indicating the leadership level of a company with superior initiatives and information disclosure*1, by CDP, an international environmental nonprofit organization that promotes climate change-related information disclosure*2, in the "Water Security Report 2025."

Since establishing its environmental policy in 1991, the SHI Group has endeavored to prevent environmental pollution and effectively utilize water resources. In recent years, it has been placing an emphasis on water risk concerning biodiversity, and has also commenced TNFD-related information disclosures. While water resources are not something that SHI consumes in abundance, they are essential for business continuity. As such, SHI has carried out activities to reduce its use of those resources over a long period of time. Additionally, it is also working to address oil spills and other forms of water-related risks caused by weather-related disasters, which are growing more severe.
Going forward, as it continues to be considerate of the aquatic environment in its regions of operation, SHI will continue to tackle the effective utilization of water resources, the prevention of oil and chemical substance leaks and other forms of water pollution, and the reinforcement of measures to counter flood risk.

See the following website for information about the SHI Group’s sustainability (water) initiatives.
