SHI Becomes a DX-Certified Operator Recognized by METI

Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President, and CEO: Shinji Shimomura; hereinafter “SHI”) hereby announces that it has been recognized as a DX-certified operator as of June 1, 2025, under the Digital Transformation (DX) Certification Program established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
In the DX Certification Program, the government certifies companies that meet the basic requirements of the Digital Governance Code based on the Act on Facilitation of Information Processing.
In January 2023, SHI formulated the DX Grand Design, a concept that serves as the base for creating strategies. It is a long-term concept for promoting digital transformation in the SHI Group. In addition, SHI has been upholding its DX Vision: leverage the digital capabilities to make workplaces around the world more comfortable and bring happiness to everyone involved. Through these initiatives, SHI has been striving to enhance business profitability and address social challenges leveraging the digital capabilities. In February 2025, SHI formulated the DX Activity Policy in an effort to improve the power of leveraging the digital technologies throughout the Group, focusing on various initiatives to encourage each employee to act proactively. These initiatives include Group IT Governance, DX human resources development and mindset cultivation, the establishment of digital platforms and their usage environments, and the provision of support for starting and accelerating digital transformation projects.
