SHI received order for 10MW-class poultry litter-fired power plant
March 08, 2023
Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (“SHI”) (Head Office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Shinji Shimomura) has established a joint venture with Nishinippon Plant Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka; Representative Director, President and CEO: Yuzo Sasaki), and received an order for EPC (*1) of a 10MW-class poultry litter-fired power plant (planned construction site: Kawaminami-cho, Koyu-gun, Miyazaki) from Miyazaki Biomass Recycle Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kawaminami-cho, Koyu-gun, Miyazaki; Representative Director, President and CEO: Kotobuki Yamashita).
This facility will be the No. 2 unit of the poultry litter-fired power plant delivered in 2005 to Miyazaki Biomass Recycle Co., Ltd. It will be a high-efficiency power generation facility using poultry litter as fuel, and employing a grate stoker boiler (*3) supplied by Wood. (*2). This type of boiler has extensive references in Japan and abroad, and the high availability and performance of the existing unit is highly regarded, thus resulting in adoption for this new project.
Power is generated using poultry litter which generated in Miyazaki as fuel, and the ash generated in the process of power generation is used as a raw material for fertilizer. By reducing environmental impact and promoting recycling in the poultry industry, we will contribute to the stable supply of electricity and the realization of a decarbonized, recycling-oriented society.
[Overview of Facility]
Boiler type : Grate stoker boiler
Power plant output : Approx. 9,500kW
