Approach to the SDGs

In the process of identifying material issues (materiality), we have defined three social values we create through our business: building social infrastructure, improving the quality of life, and reusing resources and energy. At the same time, we decided on the eight major SDGs that our group should contribute to.
We will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through our business activities and realize sustainable growth of the Group.

3.8 Achieve universal health coverage (UHC), including financial risk protection, access to quality essential health care services, and access to safe, effective, quality, and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all. CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
6.1 By 2030, achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all. Our water treatment system contributes to the safe and secure supply of water to various people and places. Energy & Lifeline
AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
7.1 By 2030 ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services. Oil tankers we develop and produce are responsible for transporting energy, and our group contributes to easy access to energy services worldwide by supplying those products. Energy & Lifeline
7.2 By 2030, substantially increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix. We are contributing to high-efficiency power generation and reduction of CO2 emissions through the CFB boiler power generation system, which can use coal as well as various fuels such as thinned woods (pruned trees) and coconut shells.
DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
8.2 Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high-value added and labor-intensive sectors. 9.1 Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all. 9.4 By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes. SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
11.5 By 2030, significantly reduce the number of deaths and the number of people affected and substantially decrease the direct economic losses relative to global gross domestic product caused by disasters, including water-related disasters, with a focus on protecting the poor and people in vulnerable situations. Our construction machinery can also be used to remove and accumulate debris in the event of a natural disaster. Thus, we can contribute to the early recovery and reconstruction of the disaster-stricken areas by providing a stable supply of these products and improving their performance.
We contribute to mitigating destruction caused by disasters by constructing anti-disaster facilities, such as dams using our products.
Logistics & Construction
11.a Support positive economic, social and environmental links between urban, peri-urban and rural areas by strengthening national and regional development planning. Our hydraulic excavators, crawler cranes, and construction machinery play an important role in the construction of social infrastructures and the maintenance of urban environments. We contribute to the sustainable development of local communities by supplying these products.
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
12.4 By 2020, achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment. We aim for zero waste and zero emissions of hazardous chemical substances in our business activities, and promote our business with thorough consideration for the conservation and recycling of water resources and the conservation of biodiversity. CLIMATE ACTION
- Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. We aim to achieve zero emissions of CO2 in our business activities, and provide products and services that will substantially reduce CO2 emissions.
