New injection molding machine "SEEV-A-SHR" released

Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd (SHI) announces a new super-high-speed all-electric injection molding machine "SEEV-A-SHR" - is a successor to the SEHDZ-HP, a medium-sized high-speed machine that enables thin wall molding. "SEEV-A-SHR" with featured function of SEEV-A series called "Zero-Molding" which able to cut down defect, loss, and faults to almost zero. In addition, by installing two types of high response / high speed injection unit, and high response / high load type clamping compression device are able to bring high level of thin molding.


1) High response and high speed injection unit


- Injection speed max : 1,000 mm / s (SHI conventional model 800 mm / s)
- Acceleration and deceleration at the time of injection : 6.0 g (SHI conventional model 2.4 g)
SHI have adopted an injection unit with low inertia and high capacity servo motors. As a result, the filling speed was reduced by about 1.25 times compared with the conventional model. By increasing the injection speed and acceleration, the resin can flow evenly into the mold. "SEEV-A-SHR" is able to reduce gate burr, imbalanced and warpage (* 1), which is an adverse effect of thinning. This contributes to the high optical quality required for thin-walled optical molding products.


2) High response and high load type clamping compression mechanism


Compression molding is an effective means to realize the thickness and reduce the distortion of optical mold products such as light guide plate and transparent casings for 5G cellular phones. The performance of the clamping compression mechanism has been improved (* 2) and enabled compression molding to change the mold clamping force during the molding process. Combined with these elemental technologies, which are able to produce thin molding and reduction of molding distortion.

Notes:

* 1) Gate burr : Excessive resin adhering to the molded article, imbalanced : dispersion of the thickness of the molded article,

warpage : deformation of the molded part.


* 2) The mold clamping duty (the rated capacity of the mold clamping motor) has been improved by about 2 times compared to the SEHDZ-HP of the conventional model.
