1955Established the Modern Machinery Co. Ltd. and started producing blown film lines at the Kawasaki Plant
1969Started production of cast film lines and tape yarn production machines
1975Started production of extrusion coating lines
1978Started production of the Delser series of high performance extruders
1980Built a research laboratory and opened a sales office in Osaka
1989Started production of fully automatic unmanned blown film lines
1997Started production of the FLEX ROLL for making transparent PP sheet
1999Announced the Multi In One high speed multipurpose cast and laminate molding machine, and installed one for internal tests
2000Renamed company as SHI Modern Machinery, Ltd.
Wholly-owned by Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd.
2002Announced a DMA automatic wall thickness adjusting air ring
2003 Renamed company as Sumitomo Heavy Industries Modern, Ltd.
Merged and integrated operations of the Film Processing Group, Plastics Machinery Division of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd.
