Shipbuilding Scheduling with Weighted Constraint Satisfaction Problem Approach
The streamlining of the construction process is an imminent problem in the shipbuilding industry. From that point of view, some companies have started to introduce production optimizing approach like Toyota Production System. However, as for the production scheduling, the dependency level on the undocumented human experiences remain still very high. It has been due to the difficulties stemming from the complexity of human decision processes. In this paper, we propose to formulate the concerned problem with Weighted Constraint Satisfaction Problem approach. With the approach especially adapted to the bottleneck processes, we have confirmed the improvement of the existing scheduling processes.
