Under pressure from the reorganization movement in the food wholesale industry, individual companies are actively promoting the consolidation and closure of their distribution centers. The centers for multiple customers are seeking inexpensive and short-delivery management systems in order to improve their dry food handling efficiency. Our company has developed a system applicable to multiple-customer distribution centers by expanding the existing Warehouse Control System (WCS) designed for the single-customer centers. The expanded WCS can offer short delivery and is best fit to dry food distribution centers of small to medium size. The WCS has features to assist dry food handling operations in a warehouse by utilizing wireless devices such as picking carts and portable terminals.
