Our company built the 149 MW power plant with a coal fired circulating fluidized bed boiler at Itoigawa Power Station of Taiheiyo Cement Co., an independent power producer for Tohoku Electric Power Co. Inc. The power plant was commissioned in July 2001, and has been operated successfully more than one year since then, responding to the cyclic change in power demand each day. The performance of the circulating fluidized bed boiler has been proved satisfactory for commercial power generation. This paper reports the boiler plant design and the performance of the power plant as well as the boiler.
