Lane Expansion of Miyatani Bridge

The traffic on the Fuji-yoshida Line of the Chuo Expressway built 25 years ago has increased far exceeding the original estimate, and traffic congestion is frequently experienced. To solve the problem, lane expansion from two lanes to three is being conducted. Our company undertook the expansion of the Miyatani bridge (truss bridge) and the Kowase bridge (plate girder bridge). The expansion work of a truss bridge was the first experience for our company. Through this work, important technologies have been developed such as removing floor slabs, joining an additional truss structure to the original and expanding the floor slabs. The lane expansion of the bridges was successfully completed.
