A dry process desulfurization and denitrification system is a multifunctional
emission treatment unit that can remove several toxic substances
simultaneously. Unlike conventional wet process units, this dry
system contributes to the downsizing of facilities. The one installed
at Nagoya Steel Plant of Nippon Steel Corporation has been operating
since August 1999 as a large-scale dry process emission treatment
system for sintering machines. One of the major characteristics
of this system is that it has a dust removal function in addition
to the conventional function of removing sulfur and nitrogen from
emissions with the use of activated char. SHI succeeded in commercializing
this multifunctional dry process emission treatment system for the
first time in the world. The system is expected to contribute to
environmental conservation as a high-efficiency emission treatment
system.
