Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers

Sumitomo and Foster Wheeler have the largest market share of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers operating in Japan. We have delivered a 50 MW biomass power generating plant, the first in Japan on such a large scale. We are proposing highly reliable facilities by implementing the latest knowledge from numerous performance records and experience.
Features of Sumitomo-Foster Wheeler CFB Boilers

circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) boilers
Compatibility with a Diverse Range of Fuels
  Low-grade coal
  Biomass fuel
Wood construction and demolition waste materials, bark, thinned wood, paper mill sludge, etc.
  Scrap tires, RPF, and RDF
  Petroleum coke
  Low-Level Environmental Burden
Highly efficient desulphurization is possible inside the furnace though the blowing in of limestone (a desulphurization facility is not required).
Combustion with low levels of nitric oxides is realized through two-staged low temperature combustion and by blowing in urea.
  High Combustion Efficiency
High combustion efficiency is attained even when flame resistant fuel is used.
Fine grinding of fuel is not required.
Superior Turndown and Favorable Load Following Operation
A simple yet favorable load is achieved by increasing and decreasing fuel and air.
Variable characteristics are offered (supporting daily swing operations).
  Superior Durability and Reliability
Established abrasion resistance design based on performance records from over 20 years of operation.
The optimum boiler design, based on numerous experiences, is even resistant to high temperature corrosion.
