Site for Energy and Environmental Business Inaugurated in Thailand

July 08, 2010

Sumitomo Heavy Industries (President: Yoshinobu Nakamura) launched a representative office for energy and environmental business in Bangkok, Thailand.

A circulating fluidized bed (CFB) combustion boiler is one of the principal products of the Energy & Environmental Group. Demand for this type of boiler has been increasing in recent years, as implementation can contribute towards the prevention of global warming by reducing carbon dioxide emissions, since biomass fuels can be used with these boilers. Furthermore, the use of such fuels leads to reduction in fuel costs. Ample resources are available, which had in the past not been used for such purposes, such as biomass in the Southeast Asian region.
We decided to establish an office location for carrying out market trend surveys pertaining to electric power generating facilities that use such fuels. We consider the Southeast Asian region as the most critical region for this business and we intend to expand the business through market surveys in the future, based at the aforementioned location.
